Hello everyone! My name is Deborah Omoniyi and I am a senior at The SEED School of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland. I am also a native of Prince George's County. I was just admitted into my dream school, Spelman College!
Unfortunately, tuition at Spelman is $44,000 per year. Currently, I have very limited funds to go toward tuition. With everything that's going on in the world right now, finances have been very tough and hard to come by for my family and I. Spelman is my #1 choice for college, but I have to make a decision by mid-May.
I am a summa cum laude scholar having a G.P.A of a 3.8. Currently, I serve as Student Government President at my high school, as well as being Cheerleading Co-Captain, a Prefect (student leader), and on the Junior/ Senior Committee. I have also served as DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) Vice-President, International Student Association President and have also been involved in 6 other clubs and organizations. I have 431 hours of community service from helping out my community and being there for others. I am serious, a leader, and love making an impact on my community.
I would thrive at Spelman because I want to gain that feeling of sisterhood and family, the powerful global network of black women in STEM and having an united front. Any amount would be beneficial as I am looking into additional scholarships and student employment opportunities.
